Custom Domains Guide

Everything you need to know about connecting your own domains to myllma.com.

Our Infrastructure

myllma.com uses Cloudflare for SaaS to provide high-performance, secure, and globally distributed link redirection. This infrastructure allows us to automatically manage SSL certificates and protect your links from DDoS attacks.

Apex Domain Limitation

Due to the technical limitations of DNS and our current infrastructure, we cannot support apex domains (e.g., example.com) unless that domain is also managed through the Cloudflare infrastructure.

Standard DNS providers do not allow CNAME records on the root (apex) of a domain, which is required for our automatic SSL and routing setup.

Recommended Setup: Subdomains

To ensure the most reliable and easiest setup, we strongly recommend using a subdomain for your shortened links. Common examples include:

  • links.yourdomain.com
  • go.yourdomain.com
  • hub.yourdomain.com

Using Apex Domains on other DNS providers

Some third-party DNS providers (such as Namecheap, DNSMadeEasy, or GoDaddy) offer special record types like ANAME or ALIAS records. These records attempt to provide CNAME-like functionality at the apex level.

Note: This setup is not officially supported and success is not guaranteed.

If you choose to attempt this, you should point your ANAME/ALIAS record to myllma.com. However, we still recommend a subdomain for the best compatibility and performance.
